Efficient binary reconstruction for non destructive evaluation using gammagraphy

چکیده
The localization and the sizing of 3D flaws within a homogeneous metallic media is a major task for non destructive evaluation (NDE). This paper adresses the problem of the reconstruction of such flaws using an efficient binary algorithm. Basically, the method rests on the fact that a simple binary constraint suffices for an accurate and robust reconstructions in the context of NDE. A heuristic minimization, computationally attractive, is designed in order to provide fast reconstructions. The proposed algorithm is compared with standard binary (the iterated conditional mode algorithm) and non binary (penalized approach with convex potentials Gibbs random fields) reconstruction techniques. متن کاملGetting to Know the Unknown Unknowns: Destructive-Noise Resistant Boolean Matrix Factorization
Finding patterns in binary data is a classical problem in data mining, dating back to at least frequent itemset mining. More recently, approaches such as tiling and Boolean matrix factorization (BMF), have been proposed to find sets of patterns that aim to explain the full data well. These methods, however, are not robust against non-trivial destructive noise, i.e. when relatively many 1s are r...

We study how the quality of an image reconstructed by a binary tomographic algorithm depends on the direction of the observed object in the scanner, if only a few projections are available. To do so we conduct experiments on a set of software phantoms by reconstructing them form different projection sets using an algorithm based on D.C. programming (a method for minimizing the difference of con...

We show that discrete tomography (DT) is suitable to increase the possible inspection size of single material oblong objects compared to filtered back projection (FBP) in non-destructive testing (NDT) with 2D X-ray computed tomography (CT). For such objects which are in one dimension larger than the maximum detectable material thickness limited view angles occur and FBP is not suitable for reco...
